Dr. Juan Llamas-Rodriguez is an assistant professor in the Annenberg School for Communication, associate director of the Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication, and affiliate faculty with the Center for Latinx and Latin American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. His scholarly research encompasses media and globalization, streaming media, border studies, infrastructure studies, and Latin American film and television. 

Llamas-Rodriguez will present his book, Border Tunnels: A Media Theory of the US-Mexico Underground (University of Minnesota Press, 2013), which argues for underground tunnels as media figures that reimagine the stakes of border-making practices. 

His work has also been published in journals such as Social Text; Feminist Media Histories; Television and New Media; Film Quarterly; Lateral; Catalyst: Feminism, Theory, Technoscience; and the Journal of Cinema and Media Studies, as well as several edited collections.
