CSERI awards funding to undergraduate and graduate students to support novel research within the broad subjects of race, ethnicity and immigration. The awardees, known as Turner-Schulman Fellows, study diverse disciplines which have included Africana studies, anthropology, communication, education, health, history, law, political science, religious studies, sociology, and urban design & planning.

Smaller training and conference grants provided by CSERI encourage further learning and presentation skills at the graduate level.

Our grant awardees are designated Turner-Schulman Fellows in honor of Penn parents and alumni Suzanne E. Turner, C’82 and David E. Schulman, C’82, L’85. Their generosity supports CSERI’s goal of promoting cutting edge research and multi-disciplinary collaborative approaches in the areas of ethnicity, race and immigration.
