Migrant Workers, Climate Change & Human Rights in 21st Century Qatar & Beyond

Professor Natasha Iskander will discuss her book Does Skill Make Us Human? The book traces the experiences of people who built the stadiums and infrastructure for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the companies that recruited and employed them, and governments that regulated their migration and other aspects of life. Winner of multiple awards in sociology, urban planning, and Middle Eastern studies, it is an important study of global inequality, at the intersection of migration, labor, climate change, development, and human rights.
